The sports bra is an essential article of clothing for physically active girls. You don’t need to wear one but girls often find that they’re more comfortable when they wear one during sports.
Go to a store where assistance is available. If that’s not possible, ask a friend to come with you. It’s useful to have someone to help you adjust the straps and look for different models or sizes while you’re in the fitting room.
Try on several models at the store. If slipping straps drive you crazy, look for models with a racerback, straps that cross or straps that clip together at the top of your back. Once you’ve found a model you like, adjust the straps so that the elastic band that goes under your breasts remains horizontal across your back. To check the size, try putting two fingers under the band at the back. If you can slide them in easily, try on a smaller bra. This isn’t something you should rush! Move around, jump and jog on the spot before making a final decision.
Take good care of your bra and it will last a long time! Ideally, you should hand wash it and let it dry flat.
Most importantly, don’t forget to put it in your gym bag! If you don’t feel comfortable changing into your sports bra in the locker room at school, you can put it on in the morning instead, especially if it’s comfortable and quick-drying.
